AutoCAD 2000 drawing file of certain natural gas gathering lines located in Wise County, Virginia. This AutoCAD 2000 drawing file of certain natural gas gathering lines located in Wise County, Virginia was created approximately five years ago by the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy (DMME) as an informal exercise to determine the feasibility of creating such an electronic record. The information in this file was known to be incomplete at the time it was collected and entered into the electronic file, and it has not been updated since that time. The technique used to create the file is now considered to be outmoded. Many of the natural gas gathering lines depicted in this electronic record have been physically relocated due to coal mining activity. DMME does not use this information because it was never intended to be complete and is unreliable. This information should not be used for making site-specific decisions. Consulting original permit applications and field investigations should be performed before any actions are taken. This is public information and may be interpreted by organizations, agencies, units of government, or others based on their needs; however, they are responsible for the appropriate application.
